🟣 Boosting Twitch Streams

Twitch is trying out a new feature where viewers can pay to Boost a Stream. Boosted streams will be displayed in highly visible parts of the website and promoted to new audiences.

Pop ups will appear during a stream allowing viewers to purchase boosts. The costs are $0.99 for 1000 recommendations and $2.97 for 3000 recommendations.

The feature aims to address the very limited discoverability of the platform. However, users and creators are concerned about possible exploits and if Twitch is going Pay to Win.

Discord announced new plans for their Clubhouse-like feature Stage Channels. These include event scheduling, more screening functionality, and the sunset of Stage Discovery.

Twitch will be experimenting with Emote Analytics for some creators. Information like total usage and unique users will be available for each emote in a panel.

YouTube is introducing Typical Audience Retention in its analytics dashboard. It will compare videos with similar lengths in the last year and detect key moments of audience retention.

YouTube will also start displaying a heatmap of popular segments for viewers. It will allow them to identify frequently rewatched parts of a video.

Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp, Messenger, and Oculus were down for almost 6 hours due to network issues. Mark Zuckerberg said sorry.

Twitch had a confirmed massive data breach claimed by an anonymous hacker on 4chan. The 128GB of data leaked includes source codes, creator payout reports, and possibly encrypted passwords.
