Hello, long time no see! You probably know us from our Animal Crossing Report from a couple of months ago.
At the time, our plan was to create frequent reports on that level, however trends like that are very sparse and time consuming to analyse.
While that is still on our radar, we will be publishing weekly updates on creator trends, just like this one. Feel free to email us back if you want to talk!
🚶♂️ Creator Migration
Top streamers DrLupo and TinTheTatman are leaving twitch for youtube. Apparently twitch contracts are not the same as before, offering less money for similar amounts of work.
Previous creators that made the switch include DrDisrespect, CouRageJD, Valkyrae, LazarBeam and Muselk.
Popular chrome extension BTTV is also extending its library of twitch emotes to youtube. The move could make the platform more familiar to twitch’s audience.
🔧 Platform Updates
Youtube is launching trending hashtags on the explore page for US mobile users. It displays hashtags with the fastest growth in different categories.
Twitch's new feature Creator Goals allows streamers to set subscriber or follower milestones. The process is meant to facilitate audience growth and was previously done manually through broadcast software.
🚨 Twitch Police
Two streamers are being sued by Twitch for allegedly coordinating hate raids against content creators. The company states that they evade bans by creating and operating bot accounts.
A new type of bot accounts titled “hoss” or “hoss00132” has been active in the platform for about a month. They are follow bots that have been reported to capture IP addresses of users who visited their profiles.
👥 New Communities
Twitter is testing Communities where people with shared interests can interact in private groups. Tweets can be sent exclusively to a community, but conversations are still public.
Reddit is also exploring the creation of new communities via forking. Users that created popular posts and comments will be encouraged to fork them into new subreddits (see r/birthofasub).
